Baby Gender Prediction Test

There are many old wives tales involving the best methods to conceive a boy or a girl. Unfortunately, none of these have any scientific backing; timing sexual intercourse, warm baths and special diets will not produce the baby with the desired gender. What you can do, however, is know the sex of the child during pregnancy with a baby gender DNA test.

This test has many uses; it allows families to prepare adequately for the arrival of the child. This can include anything from the colour scheme of the bedroom, the clothes to buy and names to choose. Baby gender prediction is in growing demand and if you are expecting a child, well if you think about it, it really does make sense; what is the point of waiting anyway.

How is Sex Genetically Determined?

Our chromosome will determine our gender. The Y chromosome is the male-specific chromosome. Males have 23 pairs of XY chromosomes. Females, on the other hand, have 23 pairs of XX chromosomes. The Y chromosome is what maleness is encoded on so to speak. There is a considerable difference between the number of genes on the X and Y chromosome; with the Y chromosome encoding for very little. The chromosomes carry around 2000 genes and 78 genes respectively.

During reproduction, if a Y chromosome from the father pairs with an X chromosome for the mothers, the result would be a male child. If on the other hand, an X chromosome from the father pairs up with an X chromosome from the mother, a female will be conceived.

How is Baby Gender Test Carried Out?

The test requires a standard medical blood draw which needs to be collected by a qualified person. This type of test does not, of course, replace an ultrasound – an ultrasound’s main objective is to check the baby’s health. Baby gender predictions are highly accurate and are based on DNA evidence.

The mother’s blood will have traces of the baby’s blood she is carrying. If there is the presence of Y chromosomes, then it can safely be concluded that she is expecting a boy. By comparison, if there is no Y chromosome, we can say she is expecting a girl.

Baby gender tests are reliable and simple to carry out; knowing the gender is an important part of family planning.
